  The titanium muscle that first appeared on the MP-58 remains, but has been redesigned for the Mizuno MP-59 irons. The head looks slightly more compact at address, but there is still noticeably more forgiveness compared to the shallow cavity MP-53 models.
  When placed up next to the new MP-69 blade, there is very little difference in top line. This will scare some, but there is more surface area on the Mizuno MP-59, which makes these look a fraction more forgiving.

Beautifully finished, the Mizuno MP-59 irons performed extremely well. The flight was consistent and the initial launch was high through the set. Headshape was excellent although this design was slightly ‘toe deep’ giving it a bulkier look. The blade was quite long, but this is ideal for the majority of players looking for a muscle-back with forgiveness. Off-centre strikes still flew well.

Powerful MP59 Irons

  Golf club makers fell in love with titanium because it's stronger and lighter than steel. That means designers can make thinner driver faces, which creates discretionary weight that can be repositioned in other areas to improve performance.
  But with the release of the new Mizuno MP-59 Irons, Mizuno uses titanium for a completely different purpose—forgiveness.

  So…of course one of the sticks I was most looking forward to testing this year was their replacement the Mizuno MP-59 Irons.  Well…speaking of the Mizuno MP-59 Irons…a couple weeks ago I got a quick glance at what the set would look like and I have to admit I was intrigued.  And then these pics surfaced and sealed the deal.  The 58′s have had a long run in the bag…but these just might be the ones that give them the boot!

  The Mizuno MP-59 Irons are amazing. They made the 59′s harmonics better than then the 58′s, or the 62′s. The 59′s top line and sole are almost identical to the 68. The Mizuno MP-59 Irons is a lot easier to hit. They feel so much better than the 58. I think your expectations suck then, because you obviously don’t know what you’re talking about. There is a lot of weight on the bottom and out on the perimeter. That is what makes the iron so great. If you want a hard club to hit then get, then get the 69.
  Got a chance to try a Mizuno MP-59 Irons 6-iron with the KBS Tour shaft (!!!) yesterday. Saving my pennies, it was amazing. Forgiving, yet imparts precision; great Mizuno forged feel as always. Have auditioned many others but thinking this one’s the keeper; now have to find a full demo set to complete my evaluation…
You're lucky I agreed in advance with Mizuno to give the Mizuno MP-59 Irons away because the clubs are exactly what I'm looking for in my next set of irons. First and foremost, they feel good and even though they are rated for the better player, you don't have to be a PGA Tour player to hit them. Also (and almost equally important), I like the way they look. Call me vain, but one of the first things I do when I pick up a club off of the rack is to judge the appearance and the Mizuno MP-59 Irons put almost every other club to shame.

The thicker material behind impact ensures that centre strikes are rewarded with a solid impact. The MP-59's centre of gravity also remains close to the clubface - allowing ball strikers to produce controlled draws and fades.
  The flight comes in at a happy medium – high enough for control when hitting into greens, but low enough to drive through the wind. The consistency was also impressive.

  Make no mistake; the Mizuno MP-59 Irons are firmly aimed at the accomplished player. However, there is an element of forgiveness that most solid low-handicap golfers would benefit from as you would expect from such a classic-looking Mizuno iron, the 
feel through impact is superb. The Grain Flow forging process used by Mizuno makes these a joy to hit.

Mizuno MP-59 Irons

Say hello to the new Mizuno MP-59 Irons, the next generation of the company's award winning Ti Muscle Technology. The Mizuno MP-59 Irons are designed for the better player (between a 2-13 handicaps) but don't be fooled by the rating. I had the chance to hit the Mizuno MP-59 Irons and thoroughly enjoyed my experience. 

While the Mizuno MP-59 Irons is made from steel, 12 grams of titanium are forged into a pocket behind the face of each club. (It's the slightly darker material in the photo above.) Mizuno says the titanium allows the clubs to maintain the ideal amount of thickness behind the impact area for solid feel while automatically redistributing the weight to the heel, toe and sole of the Mizuno MP-59 Irons.

"The more you push the weight out to the perimeter and the thinner you make it in the middle, there's a trade-off with feel," says David Llewellyn, research and development manager for Mizuno USA. "But by using a lower density material we can maintain thickness here and build in a little bit of forgiveness."

Llewellyn says that like all the other MP irons, the Mizuno MP-59 Irons have very little offset and a thin top line because that's what better players demand.

In fact, the heads of the Mizuno MP-59 Irons are slightly smaller than last season's MP-58, the first irons released with this feature that Mizuno calls Ti Muscle. Yet Mizuno claims the clubs have a sweet spot that is 5 percent larger.

The MP-58 has a titanium piece that is fairly uniform along the back," says Llewellyn. "On the Mizuno MP-59 Irons we focused the titanium right in the middle." That should make them perform better on mis-hits than their predecessors, he said.
